Texas School Procedures is monitoring the changes to Title IX at the federal and state levels.
- The US Department of Education published new regulations to take effect on August 1, 2024.
- Governor Abbott has declared that the State of Texas will not comply with Title IX rewrites and has filed a lawsuit to postpone and disregard the new regulations.
- Since 2020, TEA has continued to monitor the situation while complying with the existing regulations.
- According to litigation updates over Title IX, Texas districts and charter schools seeking grant funds from TEA must also follow the existing regulations.
- TxSP will keep its current protocols and documents posted on the website that comply with TEA’s guidelines. We will, however, continue to develop documents for the new guidelines ready for posting once any final court rulings have been made.
